There are no bad dogs, only bad owners.

We like dogs; we just don't like them chasing us. We also don't like running them over.

If you have a dog (or other animal) harass you (or amuse you) out on a local (Brazos County and environs) road and you'd like to see it posted here, please send email to Jean Marie Linhart.


Official Reporting of Dogs and other Animal Hazards:

Dogs running loose, especially those threatening cyclists and pedestrians, can be reported to Animal Control.
You can reach College Station Animal Control at 764-3600.
For Bryan or Brazos County Animal Control call 822-9102.


Known Loose Dogs, Pigs, and other Animal Hazards:

Last reported offense: 9-01-2003
Location: 11000 block of Hickory near the intersection with Dowling Road
Description: Small brown dog
Habits: chases bicycles and yaps at them, is usually loose in road
Incidents: a bicycle hit the dog August, 2002 on the Social Ride, resulting in a crash.
Other: Spoke with local residents 9/1/2003, they report dog is abandoned (and a pain in the butt). Dog seems to be growing more bold. 50 point bonus plus pitcher of beer offered by the Social Ride for finding a permanent solution to this problem. Calls to Animal control encouraged.

Last reported sighting: 8-25-2003
Location: Hickory
Description: Dachshund
Habits: Barks occasionally, is usually running loose
Incidents: none
Other: This dog does not seem to be a threat

Last reported sighting: 8-19-2003
Location: Approximately 9500 Mumford, 3/4 mile South of W. OSR near Bryan Lake
Description: 3 medium/large sized black dogs
Habits: pursued cyclist about 100 ft
Incidents: none
Other: As if that wasn't enough, another black dog a few houses down also chased cyclist

Last reported sighting: 11-1-2003
Location: FM 1362 between FM 166 and Hwy 21, about 1 mile South of the railroad tracks
Description: We saw a pig. "That dog looks an awful lot like a pig to me."
Habits: It stood there and stared at us. We stared back.
Incidents: Cyclists wondered if someone put something funny in our Gatorade.
